Meet The Finalists

Ashley Ruhlig (USA)

Why This Charity:

Ashley has a complex congenital heart defect, and growing up, she was reminded each year that reaching 15, then 18, then 25 wasn’t guaranteed. Now, approaching 40, she recognizes how causes like this one help make research and advocacy possible.

CHD is the number one birth defect, yet it remains the most underfunded. Sharing her "heart" through scrapbooking has been a powerful source of healing, allowing her to open up and connect with her community in a meaningful way.

Barbara Hall (USA)

Why This Charity:

Barbara believes Camp Royall is a magical place for individuals with autism, especially those with intensive support needs. It offers them the opportunity to enjoy a traditional camp experience — one that might not otherwise be available.

Janet Ramos (USA)

Why This Charity:

As a cancer survivor, Janet has donated a percentage of her Croptoberfest profits and funds raised through silent auctions since 2016.

The organization she supports offers a wide range of services, including cooking and nutrition classes, various exercise classes like tai chi, yoga and Zumba, as well as art and craft activities for patients during treatment. They also provide massages and group therapy sessions for cancer patients, caregivers and family members.

Lisa Espinosa (USA)

Stem Cell Transplant Research

Why This Charity:

Lisa’s husband is a three-time survivor, thanks to the benefits of cancer research and a stem cell transplant from Fred Hutch. That’s why she feels strongly about supporting this charity and giving back to the organization that helped save his life.

Leanne Lariviere (Canada)

Why This Charity:

Leanne believes this is a worthy cause for individuals — including children — who have experienced the trauma of being burn victims.

Her son-in-law is involved with the organization, and she’s seen firsthand the incredible work they do to support those affected.

Eleanor Terrell (USA)

Why This Charity:

Eleanor supports this charity because it provides trained guide dogs — free of charge — to people who are visually impaired, giving them a level of independence they might not otherwise have.

She and her family volunteer as puppy raisers, but she knows it takes much more to run the full program, from breeding the puppies to training them for their important work.

Ruth Crofut (USA)

Why This Charity:

Ruth supports this charity because Pop in the Shop mentors fatherless teens through a unique program where volunteers and boys work side by side to restore classic cars. As they turn wrenches, they also build character — learning valuable life lessons along the way.

Ginny Petrilla (USA)

Why This Charity:

Ginny supports this charity because it provides school supplies to students who are working to make a fresh start after being incarcerated. She believes in giving them the tools and encouragement they need to pursue a better future through education.

Dawn Tan (USA)

Why This Charity:

Dawn supports this charity because she knows how much help is needed after the devastation of the fires. From city cleanup to rebuilding homes, the recovery process is immense — and every donation makes a difference.

Tassie Blondin (USA)

Why This Charity:

Tassie supports the Josh Pallotta Fund Inc, which funds Josh’s House—a wellness and recreation center for veterans located in her area. The mission of Josh’s House is clear: “At Josh's House we believe that one suicide a day is too many, that Post Traumatic Stress isn't a limiting factor, and that we are all strongest when we come together. We strive to provide valuable help to our Veterans, their families and their community.”

Tassie has personally witnessed the tragedy of suicide and believes our veterans are too often overlooked and underserved. Josh Pallotta died by suicide after returning from Afghanistan, and his parents turned their loss into a powerful resource for healing and support. Tassie is also actively involved, hosting beginner workshops during Female Veterans Night. She believes in the mission wholeheartedly and knows firsthand the difference it makes.

Beth Beller (USA)

Why This Charity:

Beth supports Better Together, a voluntary foster program that steps in during times of family crisis—not to take children away, but to support parents when emergencies arise. For example, if a parent is injured in a car accident while on vacation and needs a few days in the hospital, Better Together provides a safe place for the children to stay. Or if a single mom goes into the hospital to have a baby and has no one to care for her toddler, the program offers short-term care.

Beth believes it’s an amazing organization that helps families stay together by offering compassionate, temporary support when it’s needed most.

Denise Guest (Australia)

Why This Charity:

Denise was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2024, and the support she received from the Breast Care Nurses was nothing short of amazing. Their compassion and guidance made a difficult time more manageable. That’s why she’s passionate about supporting this Australian-based charity—so more individuals can benefit from the same level of care she did.
